Art Collection
Art and Backstage Tours are conducted by the FineArts Society of Sarasota and the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. Most of the art collection of the Fine Arts Society is on exhibit at the Van Wezel. Tour guides will walk you through the gallery of paintings and sculptures of Florida's most renowned artists with works dating from the 1930s to present day.
The guided tour also offers the rare opportunity to go behind the scenes of the Van Wezel for a look at the workings backstage. View the myriad of ropes, pulleys and fly's for creating scenery and special effects, the movable orchestra pit, dressing rooms, hydraulic lifts, and the "Green Room" where performers relax between shows.
Tours are offered to the public the first Tuesday of the month, October through May. Tours begin at 10 am in the Main Lobby of the Van Wezel. Tickets are $5.00 each and can be purchased at the Box Office or by calling the Charge-It-Line at 941.953.3368. Proceeds benefit the Van Wezel and the Society.
